Art, Anxiety and Censorship at MoMa PS1: A Panel

sanstattooneb-2

In the affirmative culture of the art market, where art is tolerated as essentially nonthreatening, what is the place and role of negative affects? The Cringe suggests some of the potential gains of anxiety through the dark humor of two New York based artists, performers, choreographers and dancers. Rebecca Patek presents a new work that unsettles the controlling codes and rules of the museum and performance space.

Following the performances Rebecca Patek, Ieva Misevičiūtė, artist Leigh Ledare and Mark Beasley, Guest Curator MoMA PS1,  discuss the role of anxiety, adrenaline high and other dark pockets within visual arts performance.

This event is presented in conjunction with Greater New York.
